Bridging the Gap: Hands-on Workshop on Web App Development at PBS Campus

The Industry Institution Interaction Cell (IIIC) recently took a significant step toward narrowing the divide between academic learning and industry requirements. On 13th March 2026, the PBS Campus in Mysuru became a hub of innovation and code as it hosted a comprehensive Hands-on Workshop on Web App Development.

From 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, the atmosphere was charged with the energy of 59 eager learners ready to dive deep into the world of full-stack development.

Learning from the Experts

The session was led by Ms. Sahana Kamath, a Senior Software Developer at Ideonix Solutions, Mysuru. Bringing her extensive industry experience to the classroom, Ms. Kamath moved beyond theoretical slides, focusing instead on live demonstrations and real-time problem-solving. Under her guidance, students weren't just observers; they were creators, building a functional web application from scratch.

Deep Dive into the Tech Stack

The workshop was meticulously structured to cover the entire lifecycle of web application development. Students gained insights into:

  • Front-End Excellence: Crafting intuitive user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • The Power of Java: Exploring back-end logic with Core Java and J2EE (Servlets & JSP).

  • Data Management: Understanding the essentials of JDBC and MySQL for seamless database integration.

Why It Matters

In today’s fast-paced tech landscape, the ability to build "real-world" applications is a vital asset. This workshop aimed to:

  1. Enhance Technical Proficiency: Moving from "knowing" code to "writing" code.

  2. Industry Alignment: Exposing students to the tools and workflows used by professional developers like those at Ideonix Solutions.

  3. Interactive Growth: Encouraging a culture of questioning, debugging, and collaborative learning.

The Verdict

The feedback from the 59 participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many highlighted the practical approach as the highlight of the day, noting that the hands-on nature of the session made complex concepts like J2EE and database connectivity much more approachable.

The IIIC remains committed to organizing such high-impact events that empower students with the skills they need to excel in the professional world.

Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming workshops and industry interactions!
